Can you sell Domain Names on eBay?

This is a question I've asked myself many times. I've seen all kinds of things available on eBay but when I've thought 'domain names' I've usually ended up at Godaddy.com to get whatever I've wanted. In addition to new names, Godaddy also has an 'aftermarket' domain service selling expired domains and domains that are being resold by others. Anyway, by total accident, I ended up at an auction through a mate of mine and the next thing I knew, I was bidding on a domain name. The domain name was BigFatDownloads.com

Why was I interested in this domain name and bidding much much more than what I could get a domain name from my favorite registrar. Well, it was an existing business. That meant it was getting traffic already, and just as importantly, it was highly ranked. A Page Rank 5 by Google in fact. Wow, now we're talking. It takes a lot to develop a Page Rank but here was an easy way to get what I wanted. All I had to do was win it with the right price and that's where having the right tools came in handy. OK, maybe a paid a little much for it but the end result is that I now have a vehicle that was generating traffic in the market that I was interested in pursuing, and a high page rank that did... guess what? Well, I put some links on the site to some of my other sites and hey presto, I had sites like Smart-Internet-Business.com go from a zero to a Page Rank 3 within a couple of weeks. This suddenly had a domino effect of all my sites going up and the networking between my sites suddenly started to take off. Not only that, when I introduce myself to a prospective partner or whoever, there's a lot more respect when they see that your site is highly recognized by Google.

The good news, is that you can also pick up some absolute gems with no page rank but which are extremely good names. For example, soon after my positive experience with BigFatDownloads, I ended up bidding for what I reckon is an excellent domain name. What's the name? GoodEbook.com Pretty damn good, eh? How much did I pay for a premium name like this which was not available from any registrar in the world as it was already taken and had been off the market for many years. Only $2,750 !!!

No, actually I'm kidding. I paid $10.50 for it. Yes, I'm serious. 10 bucks for probably the best name I have in my portfolio of over 300 names. I could hardly believe it. But after the shock settled, I realized, holy smoke, you really CAN pick up both amazing bargains for severally undervalued domain names, as well as existing names with existing traffic.

Convinced yet? Well, now for some more good news that you can take advantage over the next couple of weeks. I got so into eBay that I ended up opening my own eBay store. You see, I had all these domain names that I could never fully exploit as I can only do so much. Sooo, after much deliberation, I'm consolidating my portfolio of names. That's where the good news for YOU comes in. If you're interested in building your portfolio of names and are sick of seeing the message 'name unavailable' from your registrar, or you're wanting to start some new hot projects, then check out the awesome names I'm virtually giving away at my eBay Store. But be quick, cause once their gone, their gone. I will be releasing a whole bunch of premium names over the coming days and weeks and a primary theme of my current domain names being sold is MySpace. Why? Cause it's the hottest thing going right now. If you're not into MySpace and don't realize that MySpace generates over twice as many page views as Google, maybe you shouldn't be in Internet Marketing... or maybe you should check it out and get involved - after all, we all learn something every day, don't we.

I hope this post has given you some ideas of what you can do when it comes to domain names and that there are options to buying your names just from a registrar. So in closing, eBay should be right up there on your list of places to visit to check out domain names, and more specifically, my store :-)
